Congratulations, Graduates!

The teachers and staff of LWCS have enjoyed watching you grow spiritually and academically throughout the years and consider it a blessing to have been a part of your lives.

Best wishes to all of you as you begin this new chapter in life.  Remember to keep Christ at the center of all you do, know that He is always with you.  May you rejoice in the knowledge that God delights in you and He has designed a plan for you that is bigger and better than anything you could ever imagine.

"The Lord bless you, and keep you;

The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace."

Numbers 6:23-27

Special Awards given at Commencement:

Lower Rower Award is named after the men in the hull of the great sailing ships who did the dirty, thankless, anonymous job of steering the ships to their ports. Each year the senior class chooses one who best represents the spirit of the "lower rower." This award is presented to that senior who has shown this quiet, steady, behind the scenes leadership to the school and to the community.

The winner of the 2012 Lower Rower award is JOEL SMITH. An example of Joel's "quiet, steady, behind the scenes leadership" is that he would open the doors for fellow students entering or exiting the building before and after school each day. Even during finals week, when Joel did not have to attend, he still came up to serve as the Voluntary Doorman. Well done and congratulations, Joel!

Joshua Award is chosen by the faculty of Living Word Christian High School, and is given to the student who has most consistently displayed positive participation and leadership in the classroom, school functions, and activities. This award recognizes exemplary Christian leadership characterized by doing everything "heartily as unto the Lord." In a sense, the Joshua Award is a blending of all the other honors and awards, and is the highest honor a Christian High School student can receive.

The 2010 Joshua Award winner is JOSH MATEJKA. Among Josh's many accomplishments and varied ascpects of "positive involvement" at CHS, he was the energetic, creative, and visible student leader of the Pep Club that supported and cheered many CHS teams to victories throughout the year. Congratulations, Josh!

St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete Award honors one senior from St. Louis metro area high schools who excels in both the classroom and athletics. The award requires the student be in at least the top 25% of their senior class and must participate in at least one varsity sport.

The 2012 St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete Award winner is STEPHEN HEDLUND. As if to put an exclamation point on the chosen recipient of this award, he had to rush back to CHS in order to make it for graduation. With him he brought two brand new medals received earlier that day at the Class 2 State Track Meet in Jeff City. He had a silver medal earned in the 110 m hurdles, and a gold medal for the 300 m hurdles. Congratulations to state champion and scholar athlete award winner, Stephen!
