Eagle Bands Mission Statement
The primary mission of all CHS bands is to honor the Lord Jesus Christ with instrumental music, to be a positive force in our community through word and deed while demonstrating excellence in musical performance, and to raise up godly young musicians who will take the skills learned and enjoy a lifetime of quality musical experiences.
Course Selection
Fifth Grade Beginning Band meets three days a week. Students perform a Christmas and Spring Concert.
Sixth Grade Band and the Seventh/Eighth Grade Concert Band performs a Christmas and Spring Concert. They also perform at “Music in the Parks Festival” (Six Flags St. Louis). The sixth grade band and the seventh/eighth grade band are two separate classes.
High School Symphonic /Marching Band performs a half-time show at all home varsity football games, and participates in several competitions and parades. The marching band has received multiple awards from the competitions in which they participate. Students are not required to be in the marching band to be in the high school band. During the concert season the symphonic band performs a Christmas and Spring Concert as well as other performance events including “Music in the Parks” and an overnight performance trip. The symphonic band has received many awards including receiving the “1” superior rating at the MSHSAA State Music Festival. Students also have the opportunity to participate in solo and small ensemble festival.
Pep Band is a volunteer band that plays at the varsity basketball games. This band consists of students from 7-12 grades.
Jazz Band is an auditioned performance group that meets zero hour. The Jazz Band performs a Christmas and Spring Concert and also performs at several local competitions and community events. The Jazz Band has received high honors at the festivals they have attended.
