History of Living Word Christian School

Living Word Christian School was established in 1980 by a group of families to serve the educational and spiritual needs of their children. Since then LWCS has grown from 30 students, who met in the basement of a church, to a current enrollment of about 800 students, serving PreK through 12th grade on two campuses.

Christian High School celebrated its first graduates in 1998 and opened its new school building in 2000. In 2005 a collegiate-grade gymnasium and another classroom wing were added. The middle school wing, serving 6th-8th grade students, opened in 2009.

In 2008 Christian received dual-accreditation with AdvancED and Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).  This accreditation opened the doors for competitive athletics and fine arts as CHS was granted membership into the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA).

LWCS expanded its programs in 2010 to include dual credit, honors, and AP courses, as well as an academic resource room for students with learning differences. Before and after school programs and summer programs were also added.

In 2014 CHS received the venerable honor of being selected as one of the Top 50 Christian Schools in the nation.

In 2015 Christian partnered with Willott Road Community Church to lease its multi-million dollar school campus. LWCS moved its PreK-5th grade to this new campus in St. Peters. The former elementary school building at Cardinal Place was then sold.

In 2016 God blessed Christian with a state-of-the-art event field and track. That same year Christian was approached by four organizations to launch feeder schools with them. The LWCS Board is presently committed to collaboratively discerning God’s direction in this and other regards.
